The Full Story
My name is Wendy Chenell, and I’ve had a love for painting for as long as I can remember. While other kids were busy with Barbies, I was mesmerized by Bob Ross, learning how a blank canvas could transform into something magical.
It truly began the year I had Mrs. McComb as a teacher. I was just a little girl when she let me bring home her own paints and brushes. She must have seen in me what I hadn’t yet realized was there—and for that, I’ll always be grateful. May she rest in peace.
Growing up in the Magdalen Islands gave me a lifelong connection to the ocean. The sea was everywhere—outside the window, on the breeze, and etched into daily life. That salt air and rolling horizon shaped the way I see and create today.
Over the years, I’ve practiced, refined my techniques, painted commissions, gifted pieces, and built a collection. Now, I’m excited to share my love of art more widely through Wendy Chenell Art.
Today, I live in Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia with my husband James, our son Cohen, and our dog Ollie. This new chapter feels both thrilling and a little outside my comfort zone—but hard work has never scared me before.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. I can’t wait to share what I create with you.
